The Cyprus Consumers’ Association issued recommendations for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

On 24 November 2025, the Cyprus Consumers’ Association issued recommendations for shoppers for the period of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, urging them to check prices and the reliability of sellers in advance.

The association advises carrying out market research and recording current prices of the goods of interest in order to compare them with subsequent discounts. It is recommended to avoid purchases from online stores with questionable legal information and to refrain from buying toys and cosmetics via international platforms due to an increased risk to consumer safety.

The organisation draws attention to products with very large discounts and to price labels that may not contain a specific percentage or amount of reduction (for example: “Value price”, “Special price”, “Offer”). Shoppers are advised to study the product characteristics, read online reviews, and assess the quality of the seller’s service, including the return policy.

When shopping, customers should request a receipt and check the goods before leaving the checkout. For distance purchases, the right of withdrawal applies up to 14 days after receipt upon written notification to the seller; however, this right may not apply to sellers from third countries.

Consumers are also advised to find out whether the business participates in an alternative consumer dispute resolution mechanism.
