Justice Minister calls for constant “visible” street patrols: crime prevention is the priority

Cyprus Justice Minister Kostas Fitiris stated that there must be constant and visible police activity on the country’s streets. He made the remarks during a visit to the Larnaca police station.
According to the minister, he gave law enforcement “clear and unequivocal instructions”: to increase patrols, carry out targeted checks and operations, and strengthen preventive work, especially in high-risk areas. Particular emphasis is placed on preventing offenses and timely intervention in order to deter crimes before they are committed.
Fitiris stressed that the goal is one — for people to feel safe in their daily lives and to see that the state protects its citizens and does not retreat in the face of crime.
