Psychological support hotline for children launched in Cyprus amid crisis
Following the recent drone attack near the British bases in Akrotiri and the tense situation in the Middle East, many children in Cyprus are experiencing anxiety and a sense of uncertainty.
In response, the Educational Psychology Service has launched a free psychological support hotline for parents.
The head of the service, Ernestina Papacosta, stated that parents can seek help if they notice signs of severe stress in their child—such as increased anxiety, withdrawal, or difficulties in daily life.
Through the provided telephone numbers, parents can contact the psychologist at the school their child attends or receive a consultation from another specialist.
The service also reported that specialists have already provided initial support to schools in the Akrotiri area that may have been directly affected by the events.
Furthermore, recommendations for teachers have been sent to schools nationwide, and detailed materials on how to help children cope with stress and anxiety, tailored to their age, will soon be distributed to educators and parents.
