Cyprus Expands Electric Vehicle Charging Station Network
Cyprus is continuing to develop its electric transport infrastructure: new fast-charging stations for electric vehicles have been installed across the country. The project is aimed at supporting environmentally friendly transport and creating a modern, sustainable transport system.
The new charging stations have been placed at strategically important locations to provide convenience for drivers and expand the network’s geographic coverage across all regions of the island. They have appeared in Kato Pyrgos, at state hospitals in Nicosia, Limassol, Dherinia and Famagusta, in car parks in Larnaca, Troodos, Trimiklini and Polis Chrysochous, as well as near the archaeological site of Chirokitia and the bus parking area at the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos.
The stations support fast charging and allow payment either through a mobile app or by bank card.
The total cost of the project amounted to around 918 thousand euros, including five years of technical maintenance. The Department of Electromechanical Services was responsible for implementation, handling the design and coordination of the works.
Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeadis stressed that the transition to electric transport is impossible without the development of modern infrastructure across the country. According to him, the authorities continue to work on expanding the charging station network in order to make the use of electric vehicles more accessible and convenient for the people of Cyprus.
