Cyprus Cabinet Approves Creation of National Coast Guard
The Government of Cyprus has approved the establishment of a National Coast Guard, which will consolidate maritime security functions into a single unified structure.
The decision aims to improve coordination between various services responsible for maritime border control, combating irregular migration, search and rescue operations, and ensuring safety at sea.
The new service will enhance incident response effectiveness, reduce duplication of roles, and strengthen control in coastal waters.
Authorities note that the creation of the Coast Guard meets modern security requirements and international standards.
