Cyprus Hotels Report High Demand for Carnival Weekend and "Green Monday"

Bookings for the three-day Carnival weekend have exceeded expectations, and demand for holidays during the "Green Monday" period remains equally high. This was reported by Christos Angelides, Director of the Cyprus Hotel Association (Pasyxe).
According to him, the past holiday days showed a higher occupancy rate than predicted. Favorable weather and mass carnival events in Nicosia, Paphos, and Limassol contributed to active domestic tourism. Many residents took the opportunity for short trips, ensuring high overnight stay levels across all cities.
A similar trend is expected to continue through the "Green Monday" period. Hotels are preparing special festive menus to encourage guests to stay on-site and to create an additional holiday atmosphere.
However, despite the successful festive weekends, overall winter occupancy remains moderate at around 25–30%. As Angelides noted, year-round hotel operations are necessary to foster the habit of traveling outside the peak season, including for conferences and events.
He also pointed to improved air connectivity, with an increased number of flights from Armenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Poland. Demand from the UK and Israel remains stable, and the first signs of growing interest from Germany are being observed.
According to Pasyxe, the development of winter tourism requires the participation of the entire economy—restaurants and museums must remain open, and events should be organized. Special attention is recommended for organizing events during the November to April period.
