PASYDY demands action on the “silence” of public services: citizens’ calls and emails go unanswered

The Cyprus public servants’ union PASYDY stated that citizens are increasingly complaining about difficulties in contacting government departments: phone calls remain unanswered and emails take too long to be processed.
PASYDY has sent a letter to the directors-general of ministries and deputy ministries, proposing cooperation and requesting data on how citizen inquiries are handled within the departments.
In the letter, the union’s general secretary Stratis Matheou asks for information on the operation of call centres and staff, procedures for handling calls and average waiting times, measures to improve service, as well as the process for responding to emails.
PASYDY stresses that the aim of the initiative is not to assign blame, but to improve public service delivery and reduce negative attitudes toward civil servants.
