After the fires in Limassol, pressure on the government increased: the president responded
President Nikos Christodoulides denied reports that he is struggling to find candidates for possible government reshuffles. He stressed that the process is under his full control and poses no difficulties, noting that cabinet reorganization is his constitutional right.
The reason for discussions about possible changes were the events of July, when devastating wildfires broke out in the Limassol mountains. At that time, Minister of Agriculture Maria Panayiotou and Minister of Justice Marios Hartsiotis faced sharp criticism for their statements and actions. This sparked public dissatisfaction and increased pressure on the president from political allies, who insist on renewing the government lineup.
Christodoulides stated that the final decision on reshuffles will be made when he deems it necessary. Answering questions about the appointment of new officials, the president added that these steps will also be announced at the appropriate time, regardless of press publications.
