The Iranian Embassy in Nicosia has stated that relations between Tehran and Cyprus remain stable and are unaffected by the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

The diplomatic mission's statement emphasizes that the two countries maintain "long-term friendly and constructive relations" based on mutual trust and an absence of tension.

The embassy also noted that Iran adheres to a policy of non-involvement in aggressive actions against other states.

"Iran's actions are always based on the inherent right to self-defense in response to aggression," the statement read.

The statement comes a day after a drone strike on the British base at Akrotiri in Cyprus.

The Iranian side stressed that both countries are interested in maintaining stable relations, and that any disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic negotiations.

The embassy also recalled that despite the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, Iran resumed negotiations with Washington in 2025 in an attempt to find a diplomatic solution.

However, as noted in the statement, the negotiation process has been accompanied by military actions. Specifically, on February 28, Israel and the US launched coordinated strikes on several facilities in Iran.
