NATO condemned Iran's "targeting of Turkey"
NATO condemned the alleged attempt by Iran to target Turkey, alliance spokesperson Alison Hart stated.
According to her, NATO strongly supports all allies, including Turkey, amid ongoing Iranian attacks in the region. The alliance emphasized that air and missile defense systems remain in full readiness.
It was previously reported that a ballistic missile launched from Iran and heading towards Turkish airspace was intercepted and destroyed by NATO air defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean.
Turkish authorities stated there were no casualties or injuries. Missile fragments fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province in the country's southeast.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, warning that any actions that could lead to further escalation of the conflict must be prevented.
