Workers affected by the fires will receive compensation equivalent to three months' salary
Nicosia — The Council of Ministers of Cyprus has approved financial assistance for workers affected by the recent forest fires in the Limassol area. The decision provides for compensation payments equivalent to three months' salaries.
The measure aims to support employees who have temporarily lost their jobs due to the destruction or suspension of operations of businesses impacted by the disaster. The total allocated amount is approximately 1.3 million euros.
The compensation will cover a period of up to three months — until normal working conditions are restored and business activities resume. As clarified by the Republic’s General Accountant Andreas Antoniadis, payments will be made within 24 hours of the approval of the relevant application, provided that a complete set of documents is submitted.
Thus, the authorities strive to promptly provide assistance to affected citizens, ensuring their temporary financial stability during the recovery of the affected region’s economy.
