Traffic jams near Acropolis School: complaints grow while solutions remain on paper for years

Parents and students in Nicosia have been complaining for many years about severe congestion near Acropolis School: during rush hour, the only access road to the complex, which houses three schools (Acropolis, the English School and a primary school), becomes completely blocked with cars, making access difficult even for emergency services.
The problem was recently reviewed again by the parliamentary Transport Committee. It was revealed that a number of measures to ease traffic had been approved several years ago, but were never implemented due to a lack of coordination and funding. After the latest meeting, the Nicosia School Board announced that it will fund a topographical study of the area itself (with an estimated duration of about two months) and will present an interim report by mid-January.
The management of the English School, for its part, is considering changing the start time of classes in order to partially reduce morning traffic and has stated its willingness to participate in finding a long-term solution.
