Dangerous Children's Toys and Clothing from China Pulled from Cyprus Markets
The Consumer Protection Service (CPS) has identified dangerous children's toys and clothing made in China on Cypriot markets. All such items are being removed from sale.
According to a statement on the agency's website, the following items were found at the MERCATO store in Kiti: Fendian brand girls' swimsuits, Lollitop brand girls' rompers, Lollitop girls' sets (top and shorts), Pink Rabbit girls' pants, Lollitop brand girls' sets (blouse and leggings), Miss Image Girls' Sets (blouse and leggings), Miss Image girls' sets (pants, top, and jacket), Miss Image brand girls' pants, and Lollitop brand pants.
The regulatory authority has deemed all of these clothing items potentially dangerous due to the presence of various drawstrings or straps that could pose a choking hazard.
At the "Maria Papadamo" bookstore in Xylotymvou, dangerous toys were discovered and removed, specifically Gunne and Super Truck brand excavators. These toys did not undergo the required product conformity assessment.
Additionally, at the LIVAS supermarket in Paralimni, toy guns with suction cups branded as Gunners and The Police were found and removed. These toys pose a choking hazard if the tips, which can easily detach from the arrows, are swallowed. There is also a risk of eye injury from arrows shot without the suction cup.
The Consumer Protection Service urges owners of these items to stop using them immediately and return them to the stores where they were purchased.
