Fines for cars on Aliki Beach: owners will pay for the violation
A scandal has erupted in Larnaca over two cars found directly on Aliki Beach. Local authorities stated that the vehicle owners will face serious financial consequences for entering a protected natural area where vehicle traffic is strictly prohibited.
By municipal decision, administrative fines of €2,000 each have been imposed on the drivers. The violation of beach entry rules is considered a severe disregard for public and environmental standards.
Additionally, the owners will have to cover the cost of the vehicle removal operation, estimated at around €5,000. A specialized company with the necessary equipment for working in coastal areas has been engaged for the removal.
The municipality emphasized that such cases should not go unpunished, as they harm not only the environment but also the city's image. According to the mayor of Larnaca, the incident is an example of irresponsibility, and authorities will not allow the community to bear the cost of such actions.
The operation to remove the cars from the beach is scheduled to begin in the coming days. Afterwards, municipal services will inspect the area to ensure that no damage has been done to nature.
The incident caused a strong public reaction — photos of the cars standing on the sandy strip are actively spreading on social media. Many Larnaca residents have called on authorities to strengthen enforcement of environmental protection rules and increase penalties for such violations.
