Severe Hailstorm Causes Major Crop Damage in Paphos
A powerful hailstorm swept through the mountainous areas of Paphos last night, severely damaging crops in the villages of Agios Fotios and Kiliinia. The eastern part of the Paphos district suffered the most, with additional damage reported in the areas of Galataria and Amargeti. Vineyards and fruit trees were particularly hard hit, and farmers have already begun assessing the extent of their losses.
Charalambos Pittokoptis, President of the Paphos Regional Development Board, visited the affected areas and contacted representatives from the Department of Agriculture. According to officials, inspections of the damaged zones would continue this morning to carry out preliminary evaluations. Authorities have been urged to provide immediate support to the farmers impacted by the storm.
