The Medieval Festival in Ayia Napa will take place from 8 to 12 October
For the twentieth time, the streets of Ayia Napa in the southeast of Cyprus will host the Medieval Festival from 8 to 12 October, organized by the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
Over the past 20 years, the festival has become the largest cultural event in the Famagusta region. This year, the organizers announced a richer and more spectacular programme with a shorter duration of events.
For the first time, the events will take place in three locations around the medieval monastery of Ayia Napa: at the entrance to the square, at the northern entrance to the monastery, and in the centre of the square.
From 8 to 10 October at 19:00, musical and dance performances are scheduled at all three venues. On 11 October at 18:30, a festive parade will march along Archbishop Makarios III Avenue with 25 teams participating: 11 Cypriot and 14 foreign, including from Italy, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Spain and Hungary. The parade will combine music, theatre performances, dance, masquerade, fire show and other elements.
On 12 October, participants will present a joint music and dance performance, followed by the official closing ceremony and the announcement of the dates for the next festival.
Each evening, near the traditional Farmer’s House on Ayia Napa Square, visitors will be treated to wine, traditional delicacies and handicrafts. The full festival programme in Greek and English can be found here: https://www.agianapa.org.cy/images/easycms/events/documents/1117/20thMedievalFestival.pdf
