Strovolos to receive €12 million for construction of 54 apartments under affordable rental program

An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Interior and the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (CLDC) for the provision of additional funding amounting to €12 million for the construction of affordable rental housing units in the municipality of Strovolos. The document was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Director General Dr. Elikkos A. Ilia and on behalf of CLDC by Director General Eleni Simeonidou.

The agreement follows a Cabinet decision to provide additional support to CLDC and aims at the construction of 54 two-bedroom apartments, which will be allocated to eligible beneficiaries under the affordable rental program.

The project is part of the state housing policy focused on expanding the housing stock and ensuring affordable housing for low- and middle-income households. The statement notes that CLDC has received expanded powers and additional resources to implement development plans.

It is also noted that with state participation amounting to €16 million, construction is underway for an affordable rental project in the Agios Nikolaos area of the municipality of Limassol. In 2025, construction of 181 affordable housing units has begun in several phases, with the launch of an additional 258 units also planned.
