Workers at Larnaca Airport Strike for 1.5 Hours
A spontaneous strike by employees of a private ground handling company occurred at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus. The protest lasted for 1.5 hours, leading to delays for several flights.
Eyewitnesses reported that long queues formed at the check-in counters during the strike. Passengers had difficulty with baggage drop-off due to the absence of staff to process their luggage.
The situation was similar in the arrival halls, where the striking workers also refused to unload luggage from the planes.
Local media reported that the workers were protesting poor working conditions and staff shortages. Union representatives arrived at the airport to address these concerns with the protesters.
The strike ended after 1.5 hours. According to the online departure board, the protest caused delays for several flights, including those to Athens, Malta, Bratislava, Warsaw, and Thessaloniki.
