On the morning of October 22, 2025, in Larnaca, Cyprus, the police and the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance conducted a joint check at a construction site, during which 11 third-country nationals were detained for working without a permit.
The inspection took place at a construction site in the Larnaca area. The detainees were found performing work without authorization from the competent authority.
An investigation into illegal employment has been initiated against the eleven detainees. Two employers were summoned to appear at the Larnaca Minor Offenses Department.
The operation involved the local unit of the Aliens and Immigration Service in Larnaca, officers from the Green Line Supervision and Migration Flows Regulation Subdivision, as well as officials from the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.
As a result of the inspections, the Inspection Service identified violations of the undeclared employment legislation. Notices for administrative fines totaling €42,500 were issued.
For residents of Cyprus, this means the continuation of the practice of intensified labor inspections and the application of administrative measures against employers and employees who violate the law.
