Weapons and Drugs Cache Discovered in a Forest Near Limassol
A stash of weapons, explosives, and drugs has been uncovered in a forested area near the village of Pano Polemidia, just outside Limassol. Authorities believe the discovery may have prevented a serious crime.

The cache was found on Monday at around 11:50 a.m. by government workers carrying out tree-trimming operations in the area. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Drug Squad were immediately called to the scene, and a thorough search of the area continued well into the evening.
Among the items recovered was a holster containing a revolver, loaded with ammunition and equipped with a detonator. A bag hidden in the bushes was also found, containing two pistols with magazines, additional rounds of ammunition, gunpowder, and four fire extinguishers. Nearby, a nylon sack was discovered holding 19 packets of cannabis, weighing a total of 1,188 grams.
In a statement, police emphasized that the discovery likely helped avert a significant criminal act.
All recovered weapons were confirmed to be in working condition and have been sent for forensic analysis. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
