Drug Consumption Rises in Cyprus — Most Significantly in Larnaca
In 2025, Cyprus recorded an increase in the consumption of several narcotic substances, particularly amphetamine and methamphetamine, according to a European wastewater study.
The sharpest increase was noted in Larnaca, where indicators rose by up to 157%, as well as in Ayia Napa. In Limassol, by contrast, a decrease was recorded for several substances.
Cocaine consumption also grew (in Larnaca), as did cannabis use across almost all regions. However, the overall level of drug use in Cyprus remains lower than in most European countries.
Experts warn that despite the relatively low figures, the upward trend is concerning and requires increased prevention efforts.
