50 tons of trash removed in Limassol after the carnival
Limassol municipal services removed 50 tons of waste in a single night following Sunday's carnival parade.
According to the municipality, out of the total volume, 35 tons consisted of paper, while another 15 tons were mixed waste. Cleanup crews worked through the night: by 21:00 on Sunday, just three hours after the parade ended, Makarios III Avenue was reopened to traffic, and by 4:00 am Monday, the city center was completely cleared.
Mayor Yiannis Armeftis noted that the swift cleanup was made possible by technical upgrades and the purchase of five new modern street sweepers.
The operation involved 50 employees, 14 street sweepers, two garbage trucks, four excavators, a loader, a large vacuum unit, and several trucks.
