A fire in Limassol damaged a house after cookware was left on the stove
Late on Friday evening, a fire broke out in a single-storey private house in the Mesa Geitonia area of Limassol. No residents were inside at the time of the blaze. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the incident was cookware left on a switched-on stove.
As the Fire Service reported, the fire call was received at 19:12. Two fire crews from the Agios Ioannis Fire Station имени Lochias Vasilis Krokou were dispatched to the scene.
The source of the fire was in the kitchen of the house. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 19:42 and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the building. However, the kitchen and the property inside it were seriously damaged. In addition, the other rooms of the house suffered heavy smoke damage.
After inspecting the scene, Fire Service officers, together with the police, concluded that the most likely cause of the fire was kitchenware left on a working stove.
For an additional check of the condition of the electrical wiring and to conduct a technical examination, the Electrical Service has been brought into the investigation.
Rescuers once again remind residents of the need to observe fire safety measures and not leave switched-on household appliances unattended.
