In Limassol, Mother and 7-Year-Old Child Hospitalized After Sedative Poisoning

On Tuesday evening in Limassol, a seven-year-old boy and his mother were urgently taken to a private clinic after being found unconscious. Preliminary reports indicate that they ingested a significant amount of sedative medications.
The incident occurred at home. The father initially thought the boy was asleep, but soon realized that neither the child nor his wife were responsive. He immediately called for help.
Medical staff carried out emergency resuscitation procedures. It is reported that the child’s condition was stabilized after receiving specialized care.
According to Limassol police, the investigation determined that the woman intentionally administered sedatives to the child, after which she took a large dose herself.
On Wednesday, the court ordered the woman to be compulsorily admitted to the Afalassa psychiatric clinic following an assessment by a state psychiatrist. The investigation is ongoing.
