The battle against a major forest fire continues in Limassol
In Limassol, the fight against a large forest fire in Agios Silas is ongoing. The situation is complicated by strong winds.
To secure the perimeter of the major fire that broke out at noon on Thursday in the industrial zone of Agios Silas, firefighters worked throughout the night.
According to Andreas Kettis, a spokesperson for the fire service, several flare-ups were recorded at the scene of the fire. Firefighting crews remain on standby, observing all precautions due to the expected strong winds today. According to the Meteorological Service forecasts, wind gusts could reach 6 on the Beaufort scale.
Recall, a major forest fire broke out in the Limassol province yesterday. The fire quickly got out of control, and aviation was called in to extinguish it. As the fire approached the factories, authorities ordered the evacuation of the Agios Silas biotechnology zone. In this area, it was decided to establish a firefighting command center.
