Musical instruments worth tens of thousands of euros missing in Limassol
The Limassol Municipality has launched an internal investigation following the discovery of the disappearance of about twenty musical instruments that previously belonged to the Mesa Geitonia orchestra.
The equipment in question was purchased in 2000 for approximately 60,000 euros. Following administrative reform and the merger of municipalities, part of the property was transferred to Limassol. However, a recent inventory revealed that, despite the presence of invoices, the instruments themselves are missing.
Authorities are conducting a review to determine whether negligence or other violations occurred. At this stage, there are no official conclusions, but it is already noted that the previous management system may have had serious problems with asset accounting.
An additional factor, according to sources, could have been complex interpersonal relationships between the individuals involved, which might have affected the organization of accounting and the transfer of equipment.
The municipality emphasizes that the results of the investigation will determine further steps and, if necessary, hold those responsible accountable.
