In Limassol (Λεμεσός), a protest by students and parents of the 7th Primary School of Limassol (Ζ’ Δημοτικό Σχολείο Λεμεσού) took place in the morning. Participants demanded security measures following a series of break-ins and thefts that have occurred at the school in recent years. The protest took place during school hours and lasted for the first two lessons.

The latest theft, in which unknown individuals entered four classrooms and stole 52 electronic devices — laptops and tablets worth approximately 25,000 euros — triggered the outrage. Parents stated that the situation is getting out of control, and children are deprived of the opportunity to study under normal conditions.

The chairman of the school’s parent association, Dimitris Agisilau, noted that this is far from the first incident. According to him, over the last 3–4 years the school has repeatedly faced classroom arson, theft of money collected for school events, damage to equipment, and acts of vandalism.

Parents demanded immediate action from the authorities: installation of a video surveillance system, increased security from 16:00 to 07:00, appointment of a night watchman, and regular police patrols. They also insist on the urgent replacement of stolen equipment so that children can resume work in the computer classrooms.

According to representatives of the parent committee, if no measures are taken, the protests will continue. Parents believe that children’s safety must be a priority and demand a systemic solution to the problem, rather than temporary measures.
