Limassol Tragedy: Food Courier Killed by Driver Under the Influence of Drugs
Cyprus witnessed its third fatal road accident in just 24 hours on Wednesday night. In Limassol, a food delivery courier on an electric bicycle was struck and killed by a car at an intersection. The driver later tested positive for drugs.
According to police, the collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the junction of Omonia and Paphos Streets.
The victim, a 34-year-old food courier, was riding an electric bicycle when he was hit by a car. The impact was so severe that he suffered fatal injuries. He was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
Behind the wheel of the car was a 38-year-old man. A breathalyzer test came back negative, but a preliminary drug test showed positive results.
The driver was arrested at the scene. He reportedly told police that the courier had crossed into his path. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area as part of the investigation.
