During the night in the village of Evrychou (Nicosia district), unknown individuals set fire to vehicles of the Cyprus Game Service. Three official vehicles were destroyed in the fire, including a fire truck.

According to the police, the fire occurred around 01:25 in the parking lot of the Evrychou Community Council, where the service vehicles were parked. Examination of the scene indicated that the fire was deliberately set. The flames damaged the three vehicles before being extinguished.

The Game Service Workers’ Union (ISOTITA) stated that the attack is part of a series of targeted assaults. According to them, last week in Paphos, a personal vehicle of an employee was burned, and similar incidents previously occurred in Limassol.

The union emphasized that this is not just damage to state property but a direct attack on nature protection and public interests. "They are not burning metal — they are burning the shield that protects Cyprus’ nature," the statement reads.

Union representatives also accused management of ignoring long-standing warnings about weak security. According to them, the Evrychou parking area is not equipped with fences or surveillance cameras, despite written requests submitted three years ago.

The union urged citizens with information about the arsons to contact the police, including anonymously. The investigation continues.
