Fire Breaks Out at Secondary School in Nicosia
A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at Agios Vasilios Secondary School in Strovolos, Nicosia. Firefighters have since brought the situation under control.
According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the blaze started in a storage area beneath a staircase, where tables, chairs, and other items were being kept. Fire crews arrived on the scene with two fire trucks and managed to extinguish the fire quickly. Thankfully, no one was injured and there was no immediate danger to students or staff.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Loizos Constantinou, President of the Federation of Parents of Secondary School Students, stated in a Facebook post that he believes the fire was set deliberately.
