Preventive Measures Taken in Timi and Anarita Areas Due to Foot-and-Mouth Disease Threat
Livestock farm owners in Timi and Anarita (Paphos district) have begun construction work as a preventive measure against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).
According to the Deputy Mayor of Timi in the Ierokipia Municipality, Giorgos Polykarpou, farmers have been advised to set up special disinfection tanks 25 cm deep at the entrances to their holdings.
These tanks will allow vehicles to be treated when entering and leaving the farms, reducing the risk of potential virus spread.
There are eight livestock farms in Timi, and farms are also operating in Anarita. At present, there are no officially confirmed cases of FMD in the Paphos district.
Local authorities have urged farmers to observe biosafety measures and remain vigilant. An information meeting with a sanitary specialist is also planned to explain additional preventive measures.
