The authorities of Cyprus will purchase new buses for residents of communities in the north
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus has decided to purchase two buses to meet the transportation needs of communities in Rizokarpaso, Kormakitis, and Karpasia. Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades emphasized the urgent need to acquire new vehicles to serve the population in these regions.
According to the Minister of Transport, it is expected that the new buses will be put into operation within the next 18-20 months. 30 seats will be allocated for Kormakitis and Karpasia, while an additional 50 seats will be designated for Rizokarpaso.
"They will meet the transportation needs of our internally displaced persons, facilitating access to hospitals in free areas and satisfying any other transportation needs that may arise in their communities," the minister said.
It is noted that the decision to purchase new buses is related to the increasing costs of maintenance and repair of the existing fleet.
Alexis Vafeades emphasized that current expenses have become unbearable, necessitating the replacement of buses to provide accessible transportation for the population in remote areas.
