Drivers in Cyprus Alerted to Icy Mountain Roads
Icy conditions were reported on mountain roads in the Republic of Cyprus on Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to urge drivers to exercise extreme caution.

According to a police statement, as of Wednesday morning, all mountain roads in Cyprus remain open to traffic.
However, ice has formed on several routes in the Troodos area, making driving hazardous. Roads are particularly slippery on the following routes:
- Platres – Troodos
- Karvounas – Troodos
- Prodromos – Troodos
- Agros – Palaichori
“Although no significant issues have been reported on major urban roads or highways this morning, frost has caused icy patches on certain mountain routes. While these roads remain open to all vehicles, drivers are strongly advised to proceed with caution,” the police noted.

It’s also important to remember that yesterday, some mountain roads were accessible only to four-wheel-drive vehicles or those equipped with snow chains.
