Yannis Karousos witnessed an accident: “What shocked me most was not the weather conditions, but the people”

Former Cyprus Minister of Transport Yannis Karousos recounted how, during severe weather, he witnessed a traffic accident that truly shook him. Right before his eyes, a car carrying a mother and her child overturned on the road. Karousos stopped and, together with several other people, helped them get out of the vehicle.
According to him, the most important thing was that neither of them was injured because they were wearing seat belts. However, what happened next became the main shock for him: while they were helping the victims, many cars drove past, and only a few stopped.
He emphasized that such situations show not only the danger of weather and roads, but also how important it is for people not to remain indifferent when help is needed nearby.
