Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Cyprus: Contaminated Milk Destroyed, Animal Disposal Begins
The fight against foot-and-mouth disease continues in Cyprus: authorities have begun destroying contaminated milk and burying infected animals.
According to the latest data, outbreaks have been identified in livestock farms in the Livadia area (Larnaca district). Strict biosecurity measures have been introduced, including a ban on the movement of animals throughout the country.
Contaminated milk is not allowed for processing and must be destroyed. Simultaneously, the disposal (burial) of infected animals is being carried out in designated areas under the supervision of veterinary services.
Authorities emphasize that these measures are aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus, protecting public health, and stabilizing the agricultural sector.
