Over 70 Tons of Batteries Collected for Recycling in Cyprus in 2024
In 2024, AFIS, the battery recycling organization, successfully collected 70,035 kilograms of batteries for recycling in Cyprus. This represents a 2.4% increase compared to the 68,376 kilograms collected the previous year.

This year, 162 new recycling bins were installed across the country, making it easier for residents to dispose of batteries and participate in recycling efforts.
To further promote awareness and educate the public, AFIS took part in school presentations, festivals, and various educational events throughout the year.
Since November, AFIS has been running a campaign to highlight the environmental dangers and toxicity of batteries through social media and other digital platforms.
Looking ahead to 2025, AFIS aims to further increase battery recycling rates and continue raising public awareness through innovative and engaging campaigns.
