On Friday, May 29, a protest organized by a group of livestock farmers will take place in Nicosia. The participants intend to draw the authorities’ attention to the problems facing the sector and hold a march to the Presidential Palace.

According to the organizers, participants are due to gather at 10:00 a.m. in the area of the GSP Stadium. After that, the convoy will head to the Presidential Palace, where the protesters plan to arrive at around 11:00.

The Cyprus Police said that reinforced units will be on duty throughout the event in the area to ensure public order, public safety and the regulation of traffic. Drivers were warned of possible traffic disruptions and urged to follow the instructions of police officers.

The organizers and participants of the protest were also urged to act within the law and ensure that the event remains peaceful. Police reminded that, under the Law on Public Gatherings and Parades No. 151(I) of 2025, responsibility for order during the demonstration lies with the event organizer.

The law stipulates that organizers are required to cooperate with local authorities and the police, as well as comply with the restrictions and instructions set by law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the police has the right to impose restrictions or even disperse a gathering if there is a threat to public safety, damage to property, or if the protest ceases to be peaceful.

Particular attention will be paid to preventing possible violations. Police stressed that individuals who conceal their distinguishing features or disrupt public order may be required to comply with law enforcement demands in accordance with current legislation.
