Winter Passenger Traffic at Larnaca and Paphos Airports Up by 16%
Winter passenger traffic at Cyprus's two international airports increased by 16% compared to the same period last year, according to Hermes Airports.
Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing, and Communications at Hermes Airports, noted in an interview that a significant increase was recorded between November and January compared to the previous year.
According to her, the positive trend is the result of joint efforts within the tourism industry and agreements with key airlines aimed at developing year-round connectivity.
In the winter season, 30 airlines operate flights to 54 destinations in 33 countries from Larnaca International Airport. Passengers now have access to four new markets: Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, and North Macedonia.
At Paphos International Airport, 8 airlines operate to 35 destinations in 17 countries during the winter period, with new additions including Dusseldorf and Haifa.
Kouroupi also mentioned the ongoing €170 million investment project to expand both airports. In Larnaca, a new terminal wing is under construction, while in Paphos, terminal capacity will increase by 30%.
