Arıklı on F-16 flights: "We will not remain silent in the face of a show of force"

TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı issued a statement regarding the periodic sorties of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets, emphasizing that Ankara is closely monitoring and responding to the situation in the region.
In an interview with Kanal T, the minister noted that these flights are not a symbolic presence at Ercan Airport. According to him, they represent specific response measures to actions taken by Southern Cyprus.
Arıklı stressed that Turkey promptly monitors military activity in the region and provides support if necessary. "There is no danger, but we will not remain silent while Southern Cyprus demonstrates force," he stated.
The minister also added that the Turkish side's actions are aimed at ensuring security and stability, including in the context of protecting interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The statement comes amid ongoing regional tensions and security discussions, where the topic of military presence and shows of force remains a key issue.
