Minimum wage in Northern Cyprus raised to 52,738 lira

The authorities of Northern Cyprus have approved a new minimum wage level. According to the adopted decision, the net minimum wage now amounts to 52,738 Turkish lira per month.
The increase is linked to the rising cost of living and inflationary pressure, which continue to affect household incomes. The new wage level is calculated taking into account mandatory deductions and will apply to all employees earning the minimum wage.
It is expected that the updated minimum wage will partially offset rising prices for food, housing, and utilities; however, trade union representatives have previously stated that even with the increase, many families still struggle to cover basic expenses.
The new minimum wage level will come into force in the near future and will be mandatory for employers throughout the territory of the TRNC.
