Man resided illegally in Northern Cyprus for 465 days
A man has been detained in Nicosia (Lefkoşa) after staying in Northern Cyprus for 465 days without a residence permit.
According to police officer Fırat Uğuroğlu, on March 8, 2026, the man voluntarily went to a police station and stated that he had no money and wished to return to his home country.
During an immigration status check, it was revealed that he had been in the country illegally since November 30, 2024.
Judge Şevket Gazi ordered the suspect to be held in custody for two days while police prepare the documents for his deportation.
