Firefighting Aircraft Deployed in Northern Cyprus
The Forestry Department of the TRNC has taken measures to deploy firefighting aircraft to respond to potential wildfires. Crews and equipment have been put on high alert in case the fire risk worsens in the country.
Forestry Department Director Ercan Poyraz noted that last week, a sudden increase in temperature led to a series of major forest fires in Northern Cyprus, affecting many regions.
During the fires in the municipalities of Baglikoy, Mersinlik-Tatlisu, and Hamitkoy, authorities had to seek assistance from local residents to help extinguish the flames.
Residents, especially those with pumps, construction equipment, and water tanks, were asked to go to the fire zones to provide support.
In a conversation with Kıbrıs Postası, the director of the Forestry Department mentioned that work has begun to station firefighting aircraft in the country. The necessary steps have already been taken.
Additionally, various measures have been implemented to conduct firefighting operations more effectively and respond quickly in such situations.
