The Ministry of Interior of Northern Cyprus has announced large-scale inspections in six districts of the country as part of the fight against illegal migration and violations of public order. Following the raids, the deportation procedure for nine people has been initiated.

The operations were carried out under the coordination of the Migration Management Center with the participation of district administrations and the police. During the inspections, officers checked documents, residence permits, and work permits at workplaces and residential premises.

The ministry emphasized that legal and administrative procedures regarding the detainees are ongoing. The authorities stated that they do not intend to make concessions on illegal migration issues and plan to intensify inspections across the country.

At the same time, it became known that the detention period for three foreign nationals arrested for violating migration laws has been extended. These are two sisters from Algeria — 20-year-old M.B. and 26-year-old N.B., as well as a 25-year-old citizen of Bangladesh, N.S.

All three appeared in court again, which ordered their detention to be extended for another seven days. Deportation procedures have already begun for the detainees.

The Ministry of Interior also called on citizens to be vigilant regarding illegal employment and residence of foreigners. The department assured that work to ensure public safety will continue in an intensified mode.
