Pesticides above the norm: some fruit returned, harvesting of local peppers suspended

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the TRNC has published the results of weekly food inspections conducted from December 19 to 25. According to the ministry, samples of both imported and locally produced goods were sent to the laboratory.
Among imported products, two out of 56 samples exceeded the permitted levels of plant protection products: kiwis (the batch was returned to the place of origin at the company’s request) and strawberries (this batch was destroyed).
Among local products, two out of 24 samples showed exceedances — namely dolmalık peppers and green charlie peppers. As a result, the harvesting of these batches was suspended until repeat laboratory analysis.
