President of the TRNC Arrives in the USA
The President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, has arrived in the USA and will begin his meetings in Washington today. Tomorrow, the head of Northern Cyprus will meet with the Secretary-General of the UN, António Guterres.
According to the president's statement, after completing all meetings in Washington, Ersin Tatar will depart for New York with his delegation this evening.
It is worth noting that the head of the TRNC left the island and flew to America yesterday afternoon. In his statement at Erjan Airport before departing for the USA, Ersin Tatar emphasized that the authorities of the TRNC do not intend to resume the negotiation process until sovereign equality and equal international status are confirmed.
Thus, the TRNC does not intend to deviate from the political course it has adhered to regarding Turkey over the past three years.
The head of Northern Cyprus also emphasized that the meeting with the UN Secretary-General will take place at the request of the TRNC authorities.
Before departing for the USA, the head of Northern Cyprus also met with the leaders of political parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic. During the meeting, Ersin Tatar stated that he will ask the UN Secretary-General to lift all embargoes and restrictions on the TRNC.
