Teachers’ Unions of Northern Cyprus Announce Warning Strike
Kıbrıs Türk Öğretmenler Sendikası (KTÖS) and Kıbrıs Türk Orta Eğitim Öğretmenler Sendikası (KTOEÖS) will hold a warning strike in support of the right to unionise in the private sector.
According to KTÖS, the action will take place tomorrow from 14:00 to 15:30 in a number of educational institutions, including schools in Pyla, Beyarmudu, Türkmenköy, Güvercinlik, Çayönü-İncirli, Akdoğan, Dörtyol, as well as Polatpaşa High School.
At 14:00, representatives of the two unions will visit EKTAM employees in the village of Köprülü to express their support, after which a joint press statement will be made.
In addition, other organisations will join the protest actions. Kıbrıs Türk Amme Memurları Sendikası (KTAMS) and Kıbrıs Türk Kamu Görevlileri Sendikası (KAMUSEN) announced that on 17 February from 13:00 to 15:30 they will hold a warning strike in public institutions of the region.
