Since the beginning of the year, there have been 25 incidents of violence in Northern Cyprus
In 2024, there were 25 incidents of violence, leading to the arrest of 65-70 individuals. This was reported by CTP MP Ürün Solyalı during a parliamentary session.
According to the parliamentarian, in 2023, the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Cyprus initiated 30,000 criminal cases. Crimes related to drugs were the most prevalent.
Moreover, within the first two months of 2024, there have already been 25 incidents of violence-related offenses. Approximately 65-70 individuals have been arrested for these crimes.
Additionally, the MP addressed the number of deportations and inquired with the competent authorities about the monitoring of visa validity after entry into the country. They requested information on which institution tracks this information.
Furthermore, Ürün Solyalı stated the necessity to prevent the entry of individuals arriving on student visas but not being students. According to the parliamentarian, often nobody monitors these individuals, allowing them to cross the border and penetrate the southern part of the country.
