Collision on the Girne—Değirmenlik road: car engine caught fire, no injuries reported
Around 13:00, a collision occurred between a car and a truck on the main Girne—Değirmenlik road; the car's engine caught fire, but no one was injured, police reported.
According to police, the accident happened between the 12th and 13th kilometer of the highway. A car with license plate FZ 070, driven by Abdurrahman Demir (M-29), veered to the right after losing control and collided with the right side of the trailer of truck PV 624, driven by Shokhrat Ismailov (M-51).
As a result of the impact, a fire broke out in the car’s engine compartment; the driver extinguished the flames on his own, and firefighters arriving at the scene carried out cooling operations. Preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured in the accident.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Residents and drivers are advised to consider possible temporary delays on the Girne—Değirmenlik section and to follow police instructions when passing by the accident site.
