Üstel thanked Bahçeli for supporting Turkish Cypriots
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a written statement in response to recent remarks by Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli, expressing gratitude for his stance in support of the Turkish Cypriot people.
In his address, Üstel noted that Bahçeli's words were received "with satisfaction and pride," emphasizing their significance for the Turkish Cypriots' struggle for existence. According to him, the recognition of the Cyprus issue as a national cause reflects not only a political course but also a deep sense of historical responsibility and the shared destiny of the Turkish nation.
The Prime Minister also stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will continue its line based on the principles of sovereign equality, international law, and the aspiration for a dignified future. He emphasized that this struggle will be conducted in close solidarity with Turkey.
Separately, Üstel focused on the fact that the Turkish Cypriot people are an integral part of the Turkish nation. "Today they are not alone, just as they were not yesterday; and they will never be alone," he noted, highlighting the importance of national unity.
Concluding his statement, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Devlet Bahçeli for his support and solidarity, noting that such statements strengthen the positions of Turkish Cypriots on the international stage.
