Pedestrian hit by car in Famagusta: young man in intensive care

A serious traffic accident occurred last night in Famagusta. On Fevzi Çakmak Boulevard, a pedestrian was struck by a car — doctors describe his condition as critical.
According to the police, a 43-year-old double-cab pickup driver, while driving along the boulevard, failed to exercise due care and hit a 22-year-old man crossing the road from right to left. The impact was strong — the victim sustained severe injuries.
The young man was urgently taken to the public hospital, where he underwent surgery. He is currently in the intensive care unit under constant medical supervision.
The driver was detained by the police. Investigative authorities continue to examine all circumstances of the accident, including vehicle speed and visibility conditions on the road segment at the time of the incident.
The police once again urge drivers to observe speed limits, especially within city limits, and pedestrians to be extremely careful when crossing the road, particularly after dark.
